Hello Everyone,

I am sure I remember reading a post where Carrie recommended a few resources that could be used to add to the Nature Journal in MTMM to provide a fine arts credit for high school. Can anyone locate it for me or remember what Carrie suggested? Thanks,

Rachael

Rachael,

I did share ways to possibly make the composer study in Rev2Rev worthy of credit and also a few possible ways to make the art study in RTR worthy of credit. However, I've not shared thoughts on the nature study for credit in MTMM. :D It's funny that you mentioned this though, as I was just thinking a couple of days ago that you really could make the nature study worthy of fine arts credit fairly easily for high school. :D

I honestly think with the number of drawing lessons included in Stebbing's Nature Journaling guide used in MTMM that simply by having your child continue nature journaling after the instruction lessons have finished (and logging enough hours to get to approximately 70 hours), you would have enough to earn 1/2 (or a semester) credit in fine arts. :D You could always add Stebbing's nature journaling DVD as part of it too if desired.

Another option would be to add some additional reading material on nature study (i.e. identifying plants, birds, trees, etc.), but I don't really think it would be necessary. Completion of the art lessons scheduled in MTMM and the journal entries (accumulating into a "nature journal" portfolio) would make up the grade for the course. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

When compiling hours for Fine Arts credit, do the hours have to be in one thing/study?

I ask because my 13yo is in MtMM right now. We are doing a few things for early credit, and this can easily be one of them. Right now she is also taking piano, Monart art classes at a Baptist School (the class has only homeschoolers in it), and also pottery. Can hours in all these things go towards a .5 credit in Fine Arts this semester/year (or over a longer period of time and more classes, can it all turn into a full credit)? Or, is it preferably that we order the Stebbing dvd for her and she also do more in her nature journal just going after the .5 credit in just this?

We plan to continue piano, Monart, and pottery as we are able to.

It was a long night here and I haven't had a wake-me up tea/coffee, so I hope my questions make sense.
