Which curriculum is best for us?

Hello! I am new to homeschooling and will begin in the fall. I have 2 boys who are 8 and 5. The 8 year old is completing 2nd grade in Public school and the 5 year old has spent one year in preschool. I would like to combine the children as much as possible, but I do not know if that is feasible. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions as to which curriculum would be best for my active children. Thank you for your help in advance!

We too are homeschooling in the fall for the first time. We too will be teaching a third grader and for us, 2 first graders. I have spent hours shopping curriculum and months praying on the decision to homeschool. We landed on HOD; we purchased Beyond and Bigger. Our books arrived a month ago. They are amazing and everything is so well organized. We are combining the kids for history, Bible, science, and storytime (left side of the Beyond manual). They will then do their own age-appropriate math, reading, and writing. Definitely look at the placement chart; it was a great help to me. I also spoke with Carrie's husband Mike who helped me to understand which topics we could combine and which needed to be done separately, all while meeting each child at their level and keeping the school day from going too long. I hope to keep in contact through the message board as we both start this journey!

Just based on age and grade level I would suggest Bigger for the 8 year old and Little Hearts for the 5 year old. Be sure to check out the placement chart to get a better idea though. :)

Hi,

We're glad to have you here! :D If you get a chance to pop back and share where your kiddos fit on the first page only of the placement chart, then we can advise you even better. Link: http://www.heartofdakota.com/placing-your-child.php

We look forward to hearing back from you!
