I have a sense of perfect peace 'cause I use HOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just going to enjoy the seminars, browse the materials, and have a blast at the used book sales! Yippee! I love that I'm not one of those crazed, cross-eyed, frizzy-haired, stressed-out hs moms plowing through the convention aisles trying to find the gum-blasted spelling program and some sort of history program to uncross their own kids' eyes! Bring it!

   LOVED reading this! It is sooooo tempting to just buy a bunch of stuff without any real thought when at a convention. Doing your homework beforehand makes a huge difference. The 'grass is greener' syndrome can hit us all, but though I may be partial, I don't think the grass is greener anywhere else than it is right where I'm at - with HOD. :D It gives me such a sense of peace at conventions to know what I am doing, and to enjoy just looking for free reading books, listening to inspiring speakers (making sure I don't pick those with an agenda to switch me to their curriculum  ), finding devotional books and inspiring reading for ME as a homeschool mom and wife, looking for educational free time activities for my dc to enjoy, choosing my paper/art/paint/etc. supplies from Miller Pads and Paper, and so many more things that don't stress me out. Yeah, you summed it up perfectly here...

I don't want to be that gal. Thanks for sharing!

Julie

Agreed! So thankful the Lord led us to HOD many years ago! :D Just wish I would have smart enough :? to start early, so all my children would have used only HOD

I so agree. The best thing about convention season is getting to see and talk to Julie and Carrie at the HOD booth and order next years books and guide. I also buy art supplies and just fun stuff.

My friend and I were JUST talking about this! We've used HOD for a couple years now, but before that I felt so much pressure to find certain bits and pieces to my curriculum. I would labor over conference schedules to decide which sessions I could skip to go to the exhibit hall, or which sessions to buy the CDs for because I hadn't yet made decisions in the exhibit hall. Now I browse the exhibit hall, give a shout out to Carrie and Julie if they are there (they won't be this year. ), get some fun items, art supplies, etc. and enjoy the sessions. HOD makes SO many things easier.

I loved reading this too! I am so glad that we discovered HOD last year at our convention, and know exactly what we are getting, so we don't have to be frazzled like we were last year. Last year, we were "those" parents. Wild hair, bug eyed, overwhelmed and hyperventalating... LOL! Then we stumbled upon HOD and felt a since of peace and confirmation from God that we had found what He intended us to use :D

This year we have already looked over the list of venders, planned out what we will be getting and budgeted accordingly, and we've looked over the speakers/sessions offered, and made our plans for that as well. While I'm sure it will still be overwhelming (and I'm sure I will over spend - I am a book-lover!), it is nice going in with a plan of attack  Hopefully this year it will not be so obvious that we are newbies

I've never been to a convention :)

I have often looked to see what I'm missing... but I don't like listening to speakers  and I already have the curriculum I want! :)

Unfortunately, this year was working out great that the closest convention to me was about the time I needed the new guide, but HOD isn't going to be at that one :( Oh well.
