We are expecting our second child this fall. If we stay on the schedule we are on now, we will be 8 units into Bigger at the time of my due date? How long should I allow to adjust to the new baby 1 week, 2 weeks, or a month before we resume our school days? I have to show our yearly schedule at our evaluation, so I do not want to take to long to get back on task. However, I don't want to overwhelm myself or my daughter. I need some mom to mom advice.
P.S. I know I have alot of time left, but I am a big planner. I like to have all my ducks in a row so to speak lol.
How much time do I allow?

Re: How much time do I allow?
I think it all depends on you and your child. I am due with no. 5 in 3 days and am hoping to be back on schedule when my husband goes back to work, so in 1 week. I learned first hand when my kiddos have a break in routine, they pretty much go off the wall. That happened at Christmas and it was very rough trying to get them in a routine again. That said, if I'm not ready then, I have no problem waiting until whenever feels right. Congratulations and wishes for a healthy pregnancy!

Re: How much time do I allow?
I think it depends in part on some things that are tough to foretell - like how the labor and delivery goes (i.e. c-section or natural), how baby does and temperament, the age of the mama (that made a difference for ME, at least
), how the other kiddos you have handle free time and less of a routine, etc. So, be sure to give yourself some grace in regard to any special circumstances! That being said, I'd say in general, 1 week off, a second week either off or half-speed, and then full-speed by the third week is what I'd shoot for. HTH, and congrats on expecting another little blessing!

Re: How much time do I allow?
I normally take a week off, then do half speed for a while (however long I feel comfortable with), then full speed again.
Then I plan on taking a bigger break when the baby is around 18-20 months
Make sure everything is unreachable/unbreakable and teach the baby what is appropriate and what is not.
