Preparing History Question

Post by blessedmommyof4 » Fri Mar 01, 2013 5:03 pm

I have a question about the independent history portion of the lesson plans. Are you to choose either the self study deluxe history pack OR the grade 5-6 extension pack? In other words, would the grade 5-6 extension pack books be used instead of the history pack for independent grade 3-4 reading or in addition to the pack for grade 3-4 independent reading. I hope my question makes sense. If not, please tell me and I will try to further explain what I am asking.

For each guide, extensions have been im addition to the regular studies in the guide. The indeoemdemt history box has lots of great skills you wont want to kiss even if the books are on the easy side. So 6th graders and some 5th graders should probably do both. If you had to choose justnone, id get the set for new readers that goes with the plans in the guide. Just started a second trip through preparing....such an awesome level! Have fun!

Thank you! Do you think the extension set would be good as additional read alouds or would this be too much? They all look so great!

My oldest read them for pleasure. Really good books! If you have time and just want more to read aloud for fun, they are great! But totally not a must, and definitely not as a school add on with follow ups or anything. If your child is older and needs them, then by all means ....go for it! :)

Thanks everyone! My husband likes to read to our son at night. I thought I may purchase these for read alouds for husband to read to him.
