Those going with Preparing ?

I think I am a little confused....
I see that in Preparing the student does "Independent study." Does this mean that the dc are to read the book by themselves, or are we to read it to them? Maybe they are to read it outloud to us? Should each dc have their "own" set of books or would you have them share?
Also, what school supplies (like note cards, art supplies, etc.) do you think we will need for this year? What are you using for journaling and/or notebooking? I would love to be ready to shop when all the sales begin.

Thank you!

I believe Carrie has the boxes "Independent History Study" and "Science Exploration" marked with an "I" for Independent. In my mind, the goal would be for the student to read the directions on his own and work completely on his own in those two subjects. Perhaps this might take some practice for students who aren't used to working independently.

If I had two students doing "Preparing", I'm not sure if I'd have them work together or independently. But, I probably wouldn't buy two books. THey would just have to work out a system of sharing, cuz I'm too cheap. :)

As far as supplies, I know we need note cards and notebooking supplies. Carrie assures us that the supplies she calls for our basic and household items.

I haven' t figured out how we will be notebooking yet. Most likely we'll use a three-ring binder with page protectors for history, science, and language arts and composition books for the Common Place Book (my son LOVES composition books) and the vocabulary list. We would totally lose index cards at our house. :)

My question is, in Preparing, when it is said that they do "independent study," does this mean that they read the dooks on their own and do the questions or am "I" to do them as read alouds and they do the work independently? This would help me to know if I desire to order more than one set of readers.
Hope I am making myself clear..

Linda,

Sorry I missed this one! :D We are intending for the student to read the books and do the assignments independently! We're preparing them to take on more of their own readings in this manner for our next guide!

Blessings,
Carrie

Yes, this is what I was hoping it meant.
Thanks Carrie!
