Confused on readers
I purchased the girls set of readers and the boys but I don't see anywhere that they are programmed into the curriculum. I am going to assume that the readers are purchases are meant to go with the Drawn into the Heart of Reading and the box where it says to do that is where all the readers go? I am talking about books like "Indian in the cupboard" etc. And the Drawn into the Heart of Reading book isn't specifically for any one book I guess. That is the part I am confused on. I was thinking the readers would be programmed somehow into the curriculum. Am I just supposed to pick one?

Re: Confused on readers
There are two sets of books: one for storytime, where you read to your children, and one for DITHOR, where your child reads himself. Both are scheduled, either in the guides or in the DITHOR manual. The storytime books are scheduled under the "Storytime" box in the guide. You are told which genre to choose from, but you pick which book you want to use from that genre, using either the boy-interest, girl-interest or classic-interest suggestions. You can even use your own selection, if you'd like, although HOD's suggestions are terrific. For the DITHOR books, you can pick any genre to start with. Once you pick a genre, the HOD website has suggestions for each particular grade level. Once you pick a book that matches the genre and grade level, you just follow the DITHOR manual for scheduling the books. HTH!
