Preparing to start RTR

For all you experienced RTR users, what do I need to be sure to have on hand for school supplies for RTR? We will start within the month and it is not "school supply season", so I need to know the essentials for getting my dd going. I don't have the Guide yet.

Supplies say colored chalk and oil pastels. Can anyone tell me what colors and how many of the oil pastels I need and the same for the colored chalk?
