Everything I have seen on the HOD curriculum seems wonderful! I am really leaning towards trying this out with two children. My daughter will be 8 yr old shortly after the next school year starts and should be entering into the 2nd grade. My son will be 5 yrs old and should be entering into Kindergarten. I was looking at the Little Hearts for His Glory Curriculum set for the two of them to share, however I'm afraid it may be on a lower level than my 2nd grader will need. If I did go with this Curriculum for them both, would I choose the Kindergarten package or the First Grade package? And would I then add 2nd grade Handwriting and Phonics/Reading for my daughter to do separate? I guess I am a bit confused as to how I could pick out the package and other materials that would cover what they both need. I prefer to allow them to read and learn together as much as possible. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Where do they both place on the placement chart? http://www.heartofdakota.com/placing-your-child.php That's a great place to start when thinking about placement. It is usually better to place the younger child and beef up the program for the older child when combining so choosing LHFHG is probably the right choice if you are going to combine. With the grade difference, especially in the early years of school, though it might be difficult to combine to them. LHFHG might be too little both in skills and maturity for your second grader. If you were to go this route, you would use the left side of LHFHG and storytime for both of them, then do the rest of the right side with your kindergartner using the kindergarten options. For your dd you would then add in the appropriate level of math, reading, writing, and probably some additional science as well. You may find by the time you are adding that much that it would be easily to place her in her own higher separate guide. If you could share some more about how your dc place on the placement chart and their skill level, that would help the ladies here offer up more suggestions. We really loved LHFHG here and love HOD! Welcome, I hope you find what you are looking for here. :D
