Arizona Homeschoolers?

I just started homeschooling this year my 13 year old son with Creation to Christ. I am desperate to find some other homeschoolers in my area to connect with, for me and my son. I live in Goodyear, Arizona. Are there any other West Valley homeschoolers out there? Or can anyone direct me to someone? I would so much appreciate it! Thanks! :-)

Mmmm...I'm in Tucson,so I'm of no help. Have you done a google? Or go to AFHE.org. I believe some groups may be linked to that site.

That's okay, thanks anyway. :-) Yes, I did go to AFHE site and I have a list of groups but I was hoping to kinda get a reccomendation from someone directly and hopefully find others who do HOD too. :-)

Hi, I live in Avondale and have a 5 yr. old in Little Hearts. We are new to homeschooling too and have been trying to figure out a group to join. One thing we have really enjoyed is P.E. classes through Sports Kidz AZ. They have a class on Wed. at 9:00am that we went to for the first time yesterday. The class is at Friendship Park on McDowell (we had been going to Surprise). It was a nice size group of about 20 kids with a broad range of ages. The coach is really great and there is a large emphasis on sportsmanship. They teach a different sport every week and he always leads them in prayer at the end of each day. It does cost about $25 a month, but you can try a class for free. You can also go to as many classes a week that you want, they have classes all over the valley. You can check their website for more info, it's www.sportskidzaz.com

If you just are looking for a social group, there is one that meets after the P.E. class for park time. Again, it was my first time there yesterday, but people were friendly and introduced themselves to me. They are not an exclusively Christian group, although everybody I talked to yesterday was. They are a pretty laid back group, they do park days and occasional field trips. You do not have to be an "official" member to come to park days, they said anyone was welcome. Their group name is Southwest Valley Home Learners. Like I said, I just tried it out yesterday, but my daughter did enjoy herself and wants to go back. Previously we were going to Surprise for our P.E. class with a friend, but the group was dwindling. This is much closer to home for us, so I think we will try it out for awhile. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions, or if you want to try it out I'll look for you. :D

Thanks so much for the reply. I have not been back to the boards until now so I just saw it. Thanks so much for the info, it looks really neat. I might try it out. :-)
