PLL & ILL Compared to HOD

Post by Homeschooling6 » Wed May 28, 2008 7:45 am

Hi Ladies,

I ordered Preparing but they won't be sent out until August (can't wait!) I am currently having Josh use ILL & Annette is using PLL. Can anyone compare these with HOD English.

We are really enjoying using these two English books and love how simple they are but I have no problem switching to HOD LA's but was wondering how they compare.

Thanks!
Linda

As far as the text portion of Language Arts, Preparing uses Rod and Staff. YOu can see samples of these books here:

Of course you can use the LA in the HOD guide no matter what other text you are using, but it is my understanding that you will be duplicating some of it like dictation.

I have PLL and ILL and I love them too!

PLL - Primary Language Lessons
ILL - Intermediate Language Lessons

We have PLL and my son likes it so we use it in addition to Beyond's LA.

They are older books being printed by Lost Classics Books.

You don't need to add to HOD's grammar, but since we already had it and my son likes it, we use it. Although we do all of the lessons orally because he hates to write.

I feel confident that Carrie has covered all the bases but since he likes ILL we will continue to use it. As some of you mentioned doing it orally that's what we will do.

I have been planning to use R&S English 4 for some months now, can't wait to get started but I'm going to wait until we get our HOD Guide (Preparing)
Thanks!
