One Small Square: Seashore Question

We are in the middle of One Small Square: Seashore science book in Bigger. We are basically going half-speed right now, so we have 9 days in the book to do yet. My dd is learning from it, but during some of the readings, I would get a little frustrated because it keeps saying to observe you square. We don't live near a seashore, so that is not possible. My daughter would enjoy that, but since we can't, do we just read the book and do the projects/experiments? I feel like we are missing something by not being at the seashore. :( My dd likes to see the real stuff, but I know that is not always possible. We will be in good shape when we get to the 'woods' book. We have them all around us. :D Just wondering if there is anything special we can do without going to the seashore.

I just encouraged her to look at the illustrations on the page.

But when we did take a trip to the beach that book came with us!
