I was wonder how to use the textbook with Singapore math 3. Do you have the child answer the question orally? Do you have them write the answers on a separate sheet of paper? Or, I noticed the textbook's format is just like the workbook, could you have them write the answers in the textbook as in the workbook and use it as one? Thanks Rachel

We use a combination of oral, whiteboard and paper. My kids prefer oral or whiteboard. My youngest will be allowed to write in the textbook. I didn't let the older two do that.

We use the textbooks as consumables and just write in the textbook. I think it would be fine to answer them orally, on a whiteboard or a separate piece of paper if you wanted. They are fairly inexpensive though so we just write in them, and for us it seems to help the lesson flow along smoothly.

Great responses already - here is a link to a thread that may help too!

Thanks for your comments. The link Julie put up was lots of help. It's nice to know SM is complete. I did get the HIG, but after just two days I skipped one of the days in it as unnecessary! I have decided to use the text as another workbook, work though those problems with them and let them be independent with the workbook.
Thanks,
Rachel
