Just an FYI that for lesson 3.2 you need a 9volt battery. That is something we haven't had around here in years. Caught me by surprise so I thought I would let others know so they could plan ahead.

They're in clock radios (if you have an ancient one

) as a back up and in fire alarms....oh...that reminds me...

But perhaps a dying breed.

You can use something else the same size though. We used a very small white-board eraser. It has a wood handle, so it was similar in size and weight. I was bummed for a minute (knowing we didn't have a 9-volt), but my daughter quickly thought of the eraser. You do need an AA battery for the racer though. I was surprised that was not in the kit.

We did look for something similar in size and weight, but couldn't find anything. We googled the weight of a 9V, but it actually gave the wrong weight or else we could have used my digital camera battery, although it might have fallen over since it is taller. Thankfully we live very close to a Walgreen's.

One other thing you may need to get (I didn't own one before using EE science) is a low-temperature hot glue gun and glue sticks. They are very inexpensive, though.
