LHTH with only 4 free days a week?

I'm wondering if anyone else has 'tweaked' LHTH to fit in a 4 day week. I am ready to go with it for the 4 pre-schoolers I keep and I also homeschool my older two children (7 & 11), so I have to be efficient with my time. We go to co-op on Thursdays so I likely won't have time for pre-school on that day. My older children use it as a light day for a small amt of independent work. This is my first year to use HOD LHTH so I am not completely sure how to fit it all in. We leave Thursday mornings around 9:00 am, with lunches packed & all my older kids supplies. I thought about prepping what I can and doing pre-school while my children are in classes. This may be do-able, but there will be distractions as we have a large room where any moms and kids that are not in classes congregate. Additionally, I am the treasurer for our home school group - and there is quite a bit of work involved with that - especially during co-op hours. Any suggestions on doing the week in 4 days? I know I could just do it one day at a time, but I think it would be awkward for a because our 1st week would be A & #1 for 1 week and a Monday. Then our B & #2 would be Tues, Wed, Fri, Mon, Tue, and so-on...I am not sure I want the letter of the week to e dragged out like that. It may simplify things to tweak out a few items and just leave out a few things or to double-up and do two days at once. Any suggestions?

I have one pre-schooler who comes 5 days, another comes M-W-F, another comes Tue-Fri, and the other comes M-W (unless his mom gets called in on Tue, Thur, or Fri). Because of that - only one of the pre-schoolers will actually get to do all of the activities - so I guess this is a bit of a different situation. But - maybe not - I'm hoping someone who has done LHTH can offer some advice - maybe not my exact situation - but homeschooling older kids and trying to do pre-school for a few too - and still do co-op. Thanks so much in advance for your tips!

I've done LHTH several times and I can tell you that it really doesn't mess things up to just do one day at a time even if your units don't line up with the calendar week. LHTH is not a 34 week program like the others. I would just do one day at a time and then your LHTH child will finish up the year at the same time as older sibs.

Thanks netpea...I did notice it has only 33 weeks...I was actually just more concerned about carrying the topic the letter & number out over more than a week. I appreciate the advice - it's good to hear from someone who has done it before. Thank you

We are in unit 17 of LHTH now with my preK'er and we started out last fall going half speed plus only 4 days a week and it didn't bother us that the letters didn't line up with the week. Even after we started going full speed we only went 4 days a week. We would just excited say "this is day 1, its a new letter!!!" No matter what day of the week it was!!

That said, you could def add in an extra box everyday & sqeeze the 5 days into 4. It shouldn't add more than 5 mins. I just never did it. :)

That is a thought..one box a day would be simple to do if I decide I want to keep our letters in the same week. Thanks - I like that too Robbi!

Although - I may just do it one day at a time and not worry about where the letters fall, like you and netpea said - that may actually be good for my pre-schoolers that only come 2 days a week. I'll have to sketch out how the pattern that would create and see how that works with my 3 part-time kiddos.
