Half -Speed?

Now, when you guys say half-speed, do you mean doing one side one day, and the other side the next? I am wondering if this would work for my 10 yo who will be starting CTC on Monday, IF it turns out to be too much for him. I worry about how alot of it may be over his head, or just end up taking him all day to do, after receiving it and reveiwing it last week. Does anyone have experience with doing half one day, and the other half the next? Thank you.

We are in Bigger doing half speed. I choose to do math, dictation, and grammar full speed. We do the Bible and history one week, then the science and poetry the next. That is different than what most do, but I like keeping all the history together and science together. My daughter still makes the connections between the two.

We just started Bigger this week. My plans were to do 3 days a week rather than half speed, but I'm thinking that half speed may work better. We will complete 2 days of Bigger weekly. The 5th day is for co-op, field trips, and other school-related activities, along with work in the 3 R's. I will have my dd work on math, cursive, ER reading, spelling, and practicing the Bible verse every day. We will do History, the history activity box, and Poetry one day and Science, Storytime and English the next. This is my intention, but we'll see how it works. :) Some do left side one day and right the next. You can work them as you see fit. :)

We have started various guides at 1/2 speed in our house and I always do math, reading, and copywork (younger guides) everyday. I don't necessarily do left page one day and the right page the other day. I mix up the remaining boxes and split them. For example, I will do the history reading one day and the activity box below it the other day. I am not familiar with CTC, so don't have specific examples to offer, but you can do it any number of ways.

Great ideas here already! I was thinking this thread my help too, as there are many different ways moms enjoy doing a guide half-speed...

How does half-speed look in your home?

Thank you for your ideas! I just saw read another post about half-speed that was posted right before mine, I guess I should read before posting :). I am going to start off this week just doing two days but do them over the course of 5 days. We will then go from there and see how ds does. Thank you again!
