I decided to try doing BHFHG with the extension pack with my three children. I have one just above BHFHG, one at level, and one just below. It was suggested that I do BHFHG half speed with my youngest. How? What does that look like? I am doing the emerging reader books with her too. Also, if I find it too difficult, I will get the lower TM (BLHFHG?). Thanks!

I am new to all of this so, I can't help out or answer your question, sorry. But I sure am glad you asked because we are going to start LHFHG 1/2 speed in two weeks, and I dont know what 1/2 speed looks like. I didn't want to ask yet another question.

Half speed works differently for different families; but at our house we basically do half the boxes one day and half the next. Here's a link I found on the scheduling thread that outlines how long the boxes should take in each manual. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2093&view=unread#p74537

The way I do it, is order things from what takes the longest time to the least amt. of time. Then split up your two longest subjects, like maybe plan to do History one day and Science the next, and proceed down the list this way. You may also want to consider doing the 3 R's every day. We don't do Singapore Math, so I don't know for sure, but would it work to do the Textbook portion one day, and the corresponding Workbook portion the next. (Does Bigger still have Carrie's math activities written in? If so, do those activities one day and the workbook page the next...) If you're doing DITHR have them do the reading one day and complete the workbook page or activity the next. Alternatively, if your kiddo is needing more work, you could just have them complete all of each Math or Reading assignment every day. You'd get ahead of the guide that way, but it's not a huge deal to keep a marker on the page where they're at in Math.

Some families complete an entire day's boxes, but only do them 3 days a week. (That's in the younger guides, depending on what your needs are for LHFHG glperky.) For Bigger I think you're going to want to do it the way I've described above.

We do half speed a little differently than it is usually suggested. I like to do all the history and Bible one week then all the science the next week with grammar, math, dictation full speed. It's working really well for us and feels more connected to me.
