Missions to Modern Marvels

I'm praying about using the new program for my son. The more I pour over the sample pages and the book list, the more impressed I am with how it all looks.

Just curious as to how many people will be using MTMM for their 9th or 10th graders, with extensions? My goals for my son for this academic year are to make history more the centerpiece of his program and to work on writing skills. I think MTMM might fit these goals beautifully.

We'll be into September before the guide is released, correct? This is not a problem for us, just want to make sure I have things straight.

I have used HOD from the start and therefore will be using it for eighth grade for my ds, but I met many moms at book conventions who are planning on using MTMM for their high school aged dc. I think it looks so amazing! There is so much there. I would very comfortably use it for high school with extensions as well. Have you seen these threads about high school?

And about MTMM?

I'm sure you'll hear from others, but I just wanted to say "hi!" and say I am excited to begin MTMM too! :D

We're planning on using MTMM next year (2013-14) for 11th grade (with extensions). This year we're using Rev2Rev for 10th, since we started with HOD a few years ago in CTC.

Yes, we are on track to have the MTMM guides in house to ship in September. :D We are anticipating receipt of the guides in final form from our printer on September 11. The guides would ship out the following day, along with all backordered materials needed for starting your school year. We are very motivated to finish the guide by this time, as we will need it for our own son for the upcoming school year.

We actually have quite a few families using MTMM for highschool students. :D I must admit now that the history side of the guide is entirely written that it really does cover SO MUCH history in a very interesting way. I learned much as I was writing, and I found the stories fascinating even for my adult mentality! :D We had originally thought that families with high school students wouldn't need to have the Basic Package, which is still probably true. However, after reading the books in the Basic Package again, I told my sister that they were too good for anyone to miss! I enjoyed reading them and took so much from them! :D

If my own son hadn't already read the spines in the MTMM program, I would love to have him do it. I seriously pondered having him do it this upcoming year anyway as an 11th grader. The program definitely has an older, more grown-up feel to it, as the material and content in itself is weightier and more mature. The projects are much more grown-up too, as are the requirements. All of this makes the guide a great choice for students in the target to extension age range. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
