Sharing Books with multiple students?

I am wondering about how to share the reading books.
Whether it be the emergent readers or the independent readers, should I get each dc his own set of books? I was thinking that it would be nice for each to have a book to read when it is time to do so, and be able to take off to a different place to read alone. I know I could have one read the text first, and then pass it along, but this means one must wait and do something else and get us off schedule.

I was also wondering, being new here, if the Read Alouds are to be read by me or if the student reads them to me??
This would be for the "Bigger" and "Preparing" levels.

Thanks!

Well I can answer the Read Aloud question they are to be read by you.

As the reading books I would say that would be your call and what you think will work the best in your family. If you are doing DITHOR you can just have your kids read different books at their levels in the same genre. Then they can read each others books at a later time if they are interested.

If funds allow, you make a great point about each child being able to have their own copy of the books. Otherwise, you could have them read at different times to you (especially if using the Emerging Reader's Set). For the read-alouds when you're doing the reading out loud, one copy will suffice.

we6rblessed,

The ladies did a good job of answering your questions! I'll also just mention that the read-alouds are for you to read to the students.

Blessings,
