Preparing half-speed schedule?

I'm going to use Preparing at half-pace with my 9yo son. I've thought about doing left side one day, right side the next, but that seems too uneven with all the history on one side and the other academics on the other side. I'd like it a little more balanced but can't quite wrap my mind around it yet. I'm hoping someone else has used this guide half-speed and and share how you did it.

Christine, I am pasting a schedule for half speed Preparing written by Carrie from a previous thread. Hope this helps :D :D

Perhaps from the left side of the Preparing Hearts plans you could do the Reading About History box, the rotating box (which really needs to go with the Reading About History box), and the Independent History box and do poetry from the right side of the guide (along with your 3 R's) on one day. Then, the next day (from the left side of the Preparing guide), you could do the Storytime and History Project and (from the right side of the guide) do Bible Study of Psalms and science (along with your 3 R's).

This way your kiddos would have some independent and some teacher-directed things each day, and the amount of time would be comparable each day. Just a thought.

As you hit your stride with Preparing Hearts at some point within the next 2 years, you may want to move up to doing a day within in a day for better overall retention and connections. However, you'll know what is best for you in your particular situation, and you'll also be able to tell when and if you should move up to full-speed.
Also I just wanted to add that somewhere I think I remember reading where Carrie suggests trying to get the child up to doing full speed by the end of it... because by the end of doing Preparing you want to make sure that he would be ready for the full workload of the next guide (CTC). I hope this makes sense!

Thank you! I had tried searching without success. This is very helpful.

You are so welcome, and I was so glad it was helpful! I just happened to remember it from when I thought I might need it a while back and knew just what to look for, so never feel bad for asking because someone may be able to find it quick! :D :D The ladies on this board are so wonderful! I love asking questions here. :D :D
