I'm curious about the types of projects Carrie has planned for the middle school/logic stage guides. Will you share some examples with me?

I seem to recall best the edible ones  LOL Such as baking Hamantaschen while studying Queen Esther, and a cookie model of the statue in Nebuchadnezzar's dream while studying that time period :) These two are near the middle of CTC.

I recall the edible ones also such as the medieval feast and the Hebrew meal. I know looking ahead in Rev to Rev they make hardtack. My ds really has learned cooking skills. Other ones I can think of are painting a portion of the Sistine chapel underneath the table, making an African mud cloth, a sun catcher, and some board games that go with the time period. I know in RTR he used oil pastels for the first time with some projects and also colored chalk. I liked that he got experience using these different art mediums. If you look through my blog you can see pictures of many of the things from CTC and RTR.

I just started planning our Rev2Rev year yesterday, and I noticed the first couple of projects are making an Indian headdress, and making some Pueblo pottery. There is also a project to make coins with the king's monogram on them.

I have enjoyed the history projects having a lot of variety in CTC on up! :D I too remember the baking/cooking projects best too (because I helped eat them with pure delight! ). However, here are some from those years just to show variety...
air dry clay Roman arch
baking bread with Scripture inside
making an Iroquois gourd rattle
making a window cling of a Huguenot cross
painting like Michelangelo on a "ceiling" (under a table, child lying on floor, painting on paper taped to bottom of kitchen table)
playing various original games written specifically for the history theme (i.e. Lord of the Castle, Phoenecian Board Game, Three Estates etc. )
using oil pastels or watercolor paints
baking Amish sugar cookies
making/painting 12 gemstones like Aaron's breastplate
origami prayer box
building own catapult (Wyatt used spatulas, rubberbands, and of course marshmallows)
holding Olympic games (all the boys LOVED that)
baking Egyptian palace bread
making/etching coins
making Southern Sweet Tea
writing secret messages in codes or hieroglyphics
constructing own suspension bridge
baking Napoleonic cookies (those tasted GREAT!) :D

On a side note, one of my favorite things about the projects is that each guide has dc practice sharing the Gospel in different ways. This has really helped Wyatt get more and more comfortable sharing the Gospel. HTH! :D

In Christ,
Julie
