US and World Map Recomendations?

Good morning, fellow HODers!
I am looking to display a map of the US in our homeschool area and would like it to include state borders and capitals. I see a lot of maps with a ton of info on them and my children are not ready for that yet. We could possibly do one with the various state "sights" such as landmarks and animals, but that even makes it pretty cluttered looking.

As for the world map, I'm thinking of going with a globe. Any pros and cons to that?

If anyone has any thoughts or recommendations, I'd love to hear 'em!
Thanks!

I have a very simple US map that I bought at the education store near us. It only has capitols, and state boundaries. It isn't very big, maybe 2 feet wide. It has worked well for us for the states. I do have a world map up, but we mainly used the globe until we got to the guides that you buy atlases for.

I bought a dry erase map of the world and the us and I got a cheap globe for now - I ordered the maps from an education supply store for teachers - the state one has capitals and all the states are colored differently so you can tell where they end and the next one begins - I think it is called write and wipe USA map and the world map was the same type...hth

Right now while my guys are still young and we have limited wall space, we use US and World place mats. They are working fine for now.
