Singapore: Discovering Mathematics

Ladies,

For those of you who are considering staying on the Singapore math path after 6A/6B, I wanted to let you know that the U.S. based Singapore math company is revising the Discovering Mathematics series 1A/1B and 2A/2B right now. There is a possibility that Discovering Mathematics 3A/3B and 4A/4B will be revised in the future, but there is not a set timeframe for these levels to be revised right now. :D

Discovering Mathematics 1A/1B will be renamed 7A/7B, and Discovering Mathematics 2A/2B will be renamed 8A/8B. Here is a link to the explanation of the revisions. Link: http://www.singaporemath.com/FAQ_Second ... h_s/16.htm

This means that the schedule for Discovering Mathematics 1A/1B that is currently in Rev2Rev will no longer match the new edition. So, we will be rewriting our schedules as we receive the updated versions of Discovering Mathematics. We are no longer selling the previous versions of DM 1A/1B and DM 2A/2B and will await the new versions to fill orders for these products at this time. :D

DM 1A is to be available sometime in August. DM 1B is to follow in September. DM 2A and 2B are to follow in October and November. At this point we are looking at having schedules available in paper form to accompany your purchase of DM from HOD. Those customers who have purchased the older version of DM will be fine as their books will match their schedule in Rev2Rev for their upcoming year. Those customers who are waiting on the new edition will also be fine as we will be writing new schedules to match the new editions. :D

This means that future guides will not have the DM schedules directly within the guide, as MTMM has to go to press before the new versions of DM are available. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

I was curious if you will be recommending the purchase of Geometer's Sketchpad, which is integrated in the new books, of if you'll just be using the textbooks as is.

Hi Carrie,
Thanks for this update!
I have a couple questions regarding the new DM. If we used DM1 last year can we switch to the CCS version this year and not miss any topics? (I see that the faq says that there has been some rearraging of topics between levels.)
Also, I am not sure we can wait until October to start Math so we may go ahead and start the old DM2 version in August. Will there be a paper schedule for the old DM2?
Blessings,
Karen

P.S. We're keeping your father and your family in our prayers!

Would you please include a pdf of the revised schedule (for the 7A/7B, etc.) on the HOD website for those who already have copies of the Singapore 7A/7B?

Thanks!

Will those of us that have Rev2Rev already, or get MTMM before the new math plans for 7A/B are able to be printed in that guide, will there be a 7A/B schedule we can print? I already own Rev2Rev, which we start soon, and most likely before we end Rev2Rev, we will be ready to start 7A/B. One HUGE reason I just switched back to Singapore from Math Mammoth was b/c I missed having the daily plan ready for us to run with.

Ladies,

I'll just update this thread to let you know that the U.S. based Singapore company had a delay in their release of 7A/7B, as they ended up having to redo the answer keys for 7A due to too many errors that showed up in the change-over. This delayed the release of 7B and 8A/8B. At this point only 7A has been released with answer key and 7B is just now becoming available with answer key to follow. We have the schedule complete for 7A, and right now it is being shipped to our customers when they purchase 7A. The same will be true for 7B once its schedule is completed. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
