Which English should I use?

Sent the kids to school in March. We'll be homeschooling again for fall! Oldest was half way through English 3 and DS was about a 1/3. My oldest placed at 6+ in English in her entrance test for school and DS 3+. They just finished grades 3 and 5 at school. So they'll be starting Preparing as 9 and 11 year olds in 4th and 6th grade. I could see having DS finish 3, but should I go ahead and start him in 4th? Should I make my 6th grade DD finish 3rd grade? If not, which book should I place her in? Is there any sort of entrance tests for those books?

Since kids get little grammar instruction in public schools, in my experience anyway, I'd start where you left off. Go at their own pace, doing plenty orally together. If they zoom through it fine; if not, that's ok too.

I would just pick up where you left off. That way if they covered different topic areas you don't miss anything. Like the pp said you can zoom through if they are getting it. Or you can order the tests and give them the tests for that level and see how they do. I just bought the Rod and Staff test booklets because I wanted to introduce my kids to testing.

I would start the older in level 4 and start the younger where he left off. If it is too easy, then progress to the next book. Congratulations on bringing them home. I loved reading your blog.
