My ds 7yo LOVES science, ADORES experiments really. I just know there won't be enough in beyond. I'm looking/thinking about adding elemental science ESA--earth science and astronomy. I don't want to add too much though and risk getting bogged down mid-year! Also elemental science is a more classical method. Would I be messing up the Charlotte mason aspect of HOD? It does use living books though and note booking as well as presenting the information in small chunks. We would most likely use the 2 day schedule.

What other interesting projects /science ideas would be good to add to this level?

The science in Beyond has experiments planned 2 times a week, and boy are they fun! For a kiddo that adores science like your little guy, I'd probably do Beyond 4 days a week, and on the 5th day do your extra science. That way, your ds will take all he can from the more CM like science plans in Beyond, while still enjoying his 'extra' science on the fifth day. You can really blow it out of the water on the fifth day, planning to your heart's content for ds's special interest in science, while not detracting from the wonderful balance of learning in the rest of the week with Beyond! Sounds fun to me - HTH!
