Do you recommend Sonlights teachers handbook for Singapore 3A/3B? Or will your activities along w/ the workbook and textbook be all I need to teach?

I can't tell you what Carrie reccommends...but I know that in the appendix of Bigger, there is a schedule for using Singapore 3A and 3B using the textbook and the workbook. (No more hands on activities from this level on.)

Christy,
Kathleen's right that we move away from the hands-on to using the pictorial method in the Singapore textbooks starting with 3A/3B. Our philosophy is that once you've laid a strong foundation with the hands-on approach (like we did in K-1-2), then it's time to make the transition from the hands-on to the pictorial approach. My second son is close to finishing 3A now, and he was ready to make the move away from hands-on when we started 3A.
I am not a fan of Sonlight's teacher's guides for Singapore. The small font and multiple activities seem to complicate what is meant to be a clutter-free, no-nonsense approach to math. So, I would recommend starting with 3A without the guide and see how your child does. In Singapore there was no Teacher's guide in addition to the Textbook/Workbook either. If you really felt you needed the guide, it is easy enough to add later.
Blessings,
Carrie
