at home!" said my 15 yo to his aunt this past Saturday.

He's taken several courses away from home in the last 2 years and was sharing with his aunt that he feels like he learns so much more without the stress and strain of a "school" environment when he does his course work at home. He then went on to say, "My mom picks such great books. They are so interesting. I love everything I do at home." Well, I didn't interrupt him to say that Carrie is the one who picks the books and I just order them. I mean after all, why blow my cover when we're this far into things. To wrap things up my sweet son said to me just last week, "I'm really looking forward to my next year of school. I'm excited about everything you've planned!" :D

It's fascinating to me to reflect back on those 7th and 8th grade years when he felt he needed to be in public school. He finally has a love of learning at work in him and home is the place where he sees that really happening! It was so difficult when this son transitioned out of childhood into adolescence. I missed that boy soooo much, but I'm loving the young man that he has blossomed into. God is sooooo good. Thank you HOD for being my partner in education! :D

This post is just SO encouraging! My ds is soon-to-be 11. He has always been hs'd and has never asked to go to ps. Your comment about being sad about the little boy growing up rings so true. I'm really struggling saying, "good-bye," to the little boy. Thanks for reminding me that he still will be wonderful at 15!
