We are working on Unit 13 in LHFHG. Loved the lesson on feeding the 5,000. My son thought it was great to make bread. He helped read the recipe, mixed the dough and even kneaded it. This is a child who does not like to get his hands dirty but loves to help cook. It amazed him that the bread dough got so much bigger. He was also very excited when we had some of the bread for lunch that day. It was a really fun lesson to do.

Thanks for the heads up about making bread! We are on week 11 in LHFHG and I have not looked that far ahead yet. My dc will love doing this.

This does sound like fun, and we'll be there next week! :D Not too long ago, I posted an alternative lactose-free recipe for the golden calf activity. I'll try to remember and post a gluten-free, lactose-free alternative for this one as well (just in case there are other users here who may have "special tummies" like my dd).

My kids are still swimming their fish we made today everywhere! We had to study fish in our big nature encyclopedia today b/c the question arose about fish and noses....yes, they do have noses! and lots of other cool stuff.....I love this spontanious learning!!

Okay ladies, I cheated and bought a mix  ...but we still had a great time baking and eating our bread. We added vanilla, cinnamon and raisins to our mix...yummm!
