Hi all!
LHTH looks like it may be the best fit for us only because my youngest is almost 2 and according to the placement info on the site it seems very important to place according to age however i'm just not 100% sure that my oldest shouldn't have LHFHG. my oldest turned 4 in march, he knows all the letters, thier sounds, can sound out small words, count to 100 and knows his numbers up to that. He also writes all his letters (not all in the correct direction though) and he writes short words after sounding them out with me. We do all the other things on the list already so all of that would be great either way.thanks for the help :)

Ok so, just to clarify, you have a just turned 4 yr old and a almost 2? Do you think you'll want to combine them long-term?

We started LHTH with our DS right after he turned 4. He already knew his letters, not necessarily sounds, and he wasn't writing at all. It has been a good fit for him!!

A couple options:
1. Do LHTH as is with both.
2. Do LHTH but add in the k options from LHFHG for your older. Then the next yr do LHFHG with the 1st grade options.
3. Do LHFHG with your older, letting the little tag along and then start LHTH in a year or 2 when he's ready.

It does look like your older is ready for LHFHG, however I would hesitate simply because the next year he would be a 5 yr old doing Beyond. My DD did Beyond this year as a 7 yr old, altho lots do
it at 6. Its a fine line between meeting them where they are at now and pushing them too hard!!
Hope something I said helps some, keep asking questions!

There is another option to consider with your oldest and that is to do LHFHG at half speed or only 3 or 4 days a week, that would stretch the program out longer to give him more time to mature. You could do the same with Beyond when you get to it.
