My dh brings some perspective to things

Post by LynnH » Tue Apr 24, 2012 12:20 pm

Last night I was sitting on the floor with all the Rev to Rev books surrounding me and dh walks in and asks me what I was doing. I told him I was looking at all the books for next year. He gets this look on his face and says "He is going to go through all those in 1 year?" I answered "Yes, well and his DITHOR books that I don't have up here." Then he says, "And you stress out over the fact that he doesn't read during his non-school time, do you realize that is more books than I have gone through in my entire lifetime? " That made me laugh, because honestly that is probably true. Dh is not a big reader. When he put it that way I had to realize that my stressing over the fact that he isn't a reader during non-school hours is pretty silly. He gets plenty of exposure to incredible books so anything else he decides to read will just be icing on the cake.

I had to laugh when I read this, because I recently had almost the same conversation with my dh recently!! :D My dh is not much of a reader, so he was pretty surprised to see just how much our son is reading in a year! I'm so thankful for his take on it, because it is such a good reminder of just how much our children are doing/learning within HOD!

In all my years in public school, I don't think I'VE read half that many books! Of course, I do now, because I have all these wonderful books coming into my home! I can't let the kids have all the fun! :D

Thanks for posting this Lynn, it was a great reminder of just how much our kids do!
