DITHOR Book list choice
Do you have suggestions for how we decide which book list to buy for our kids for DITHOR? I am wondering if this is a place we should be trying to stretch our child in reading or if they'll get plenty of that in Preparing? I know I've read that I should be asking of them to read some books a bit out of their comfort zone, but am unsure if that would apply here. Is there a test to place them?
Re: DITHOR Book list choice
I don't think there's one definite answer here, but I can tell you what we do in case it is helpful. When our dc begin DITHOR, DITHOR is a challenge in and of itself, so we choose books our dc can easily read. I don't look at this as a time to stretch or challenge them, as DITHOR is appropriately meaty itself. So, for example, when our dc finish the Emerging Reader's Set we always have them go into Level 2 of DITHOR, even if they could handle Level 3 or even Level 4/5. For both of our dc, they could read at a level far higher than they could truly comprehend, and the types of discussion questions, Student Workbook lessons, and Godly character trait applications in DITHOR were more meaningful and manageable at a level of reading they truly were comfortable. You can see the approximate reading levels at the tops of each of the columns of DITHOR Book Packs, so that also gives a ballpark. How old are your dc, and what are a few book titles they have read lately that they have been able to do well with and comprehend fully? Then we could try to make a suggestion, if you would like.

That is helpful! I need to drop back to the lower book choices then. Thanks!
