I had a slight 'emergency' activity, to help the administrator of our umbrella school with today. I had a couple of subjects left for my ds in Beyond when the request came. Since my 3rd grader was done with school I asked him to jump in and do the science experiment, poetry and story time + activity with his younger brother... I was able to listen in from where I was working on the project and it was so cute to hear the interaction. He has been doing Preparing and he was able to do and explain the activities to his younger brother. What a blessing it was to me...
Thank you Carrie for how you are blessing our families with this amazing curriculum,

I remember when my third DD was about two and a half, we were at the library. They have a container of foam letters, and she was pulling them out one at a time and saying the names and some of the sounds. I wasn't really paying attention, but a man standing near us made a comment about it. I knew she didn't learn that from me, but from being the "student" when playing "school" with her sisters. (Incidentally, my kids have never been to a public school, but when they play school it is always a public school setting - teacher up front at the board and kids at desks - that they recreate.) Since then, they have become my favorite learning tool for the younger two girls. Thanks for sharing your story! Blessings.

It is amazing what the younger ones learn from their older ones. My youngest (just turned 3yo) was listening in while I was reading Danny Meadow Mouse to my dd (5yo). When I stopped and asked a question, my 3yo answered correctly! She had really been listening & comprehending well! I often joke with my husband that her schooling will start when she's in 2nd grade as she'll know all K/1 things from her older siblings.

This is such a fun story!

I just love to see those older ones jump in and take ownership of their education and share their "expertise" with other little ones at home as well!

We have this at our house sometimes too. My older two are more than willing, and even eager, if I ever have to ask them to help do LHFHG with my little one or Bigger Hearts wtih my third little guy when I'm in a pinch time-wise. They really do a great job!
Blessings,
Carrie
