Start now or wait until Aug/Sep?

I've always been so traditional, starting after Labor Day (as the schools do around here) and finishing in spring with the summer off. Up here in Michigan we tend to have shorter summers, so I like to use them up outside!

However, we are done with what we were using and I have about all my HOD stuff just waiting for me! Begging for me to use it.

Tell me about starting now! It seems so awkward to me but I know so many do it.

Start one guide. Get your groove. Then add the next one. Enjoy having a head start. :D I can't imagine waiting half a year to begin when you are so excited.

I love abrightmom's idea! :D Maybe take a few weeks off to celebrate the finish of the last guides (and high five yourself at finishing your teaching part strong :D )? Then, you could start, either stagger starting, half-speed, or full-speed - whatever tickles your fancy. Oh, you could start with the guides you have that are 5 day a week guides, and if you can get in about 35 days of plans or so, you could just do 4 days a week of plans after summer break the whole school year and still complete the guides. :D Just an idea!

In Christ,
Julie

Never thought about starting half-speed. That is a good idea.

For us, we just go straight through because it takes so little time. My kids are normally up, done with school, and waiting on pins and needles for their friends to get out and about. Our "schedule" doesn't change throughout the year like ps kids schedules do. DH works the same through the summer. So I'd say go for it ;)

We do either half speed or just a set amount of time we want to do school each day and stop where we end up... if we want to get done faster I mean.
