Encouraged by this child's faith

Post by psreit » Wed Mar 21, 2012 6:26 am

As my dd knealt by her bed the past two evenings, I was so impressed by her words. This is a girl who rambles a lot and doesn't take time to think about what she says sometimes, so it often doesn't make sense. The other night she asked God to be with our pastor 'as he works DILIGENTLY'(this word was in one of her HOD memory passages :D ) Then she asked for the Lord to be with his wife, who suffers tremendously with Lyme disease, to help her so she can praise Him good. What really made me smile was last night when she was praying for her relatives (too many to mention). But she asked that if any of them had Jesus in their heart that He would 'sign them up in His book'. :) :)

We have been having a lot of frustrations here lately and even problems with attitude. DD is very outspoken, so it takes a lot of patience on my end and sometimes I don't acquire that fruit of the spirit. I'm blaming it on menopause. (I know most of you aren't even close to that) She even asked in her prayer the other night that I would not get frustrated when she does things I don't like. I'll tell you, those prayers of hers were like a breath of fresh air. I had been discouraged about some of her behaviors and feeling like she isn't moving forward in some ways. I have a tendency to focus on the negative. But, this has given me a boost and will help to remind me that when frustrations come, this child's faith is real and I need to keep building on that no matter how edgy my nerves get. I hope this is an encouragement to some of you. Our dc are listening. :D

Pam,
What a blessing!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

I'm not at menopause  , but my personality is more to see the negative. There've been times I've assumed something negative from my kids' actions or words and it was that just an assumption. The Lord has let me see their hearts so many times, and they really do have a desire to do what's right. Thanks for the encouragment to keep cultivating that. ((((HUGS)))

What a great story!

I am there as well and dd is on the other end of the spectrum. Poor Daddy! But about 2 weeks ago, dd came to me crying wondering why it's so hard for some to become a Christian.

The fruits show in our children even though we don't see it all the time.

What a joy to hear this! I so look forward to my children's faith grow. Your DD sounds very much like my step-niece, a very real faith, but many issues. I'm sure God is going to use these wonderful girls for his glory.

This was such a blessing to read! I think we all struggle with our dc sometimes, and this is an encouragement that their ears are listening and taking in what we are saying even when it sometimes seems they are not. Thanks for sharing, and may the Lord continue to work in our dc's hearts through HOD! :D
