Preparing Storytime Question

Hello, Ladies!
I'm hoping to start Preparing soon, and I have a quick question. If my husband wanted to read the Storytime selection in the evening, would that work? My son would be hearing the History reading early in the day, before he did the rest of the guide. But would it be a problem if he hadn't heard the Storytime before he completed the assignments for the day? Would it really be best if I did both the History reading and Storytime before the assignments?
Thanks so much!

No, that wouldn't be a problem at all! In fact, I think for Preparing, it would work very well. With both the Indep. history books and story time titles being in similar time periods, having some time between readings might help keep the plots separate. Preparing is just a fabulous program. Have fun!

Most of the time, I think that would work out fine. The story time books really enhance the history making it come to life, but it probably wouldn't be necessary to have it read at the same time or before doing a lot of the other work. There are a few times in the guide, when it specifically tells you to read the story time before doing the history discussion (units 27-29 for example), but that is the exception instead of the rule so most of the time, reading the story time later in the day would be fine. I would be a bit jealous if I were you though because the story time books are great and I would hate to miss out on them!

I think that is a perfect plan! We are doing Preparing this year ... and while we do all of our boxes early in the day ... saving some of it for the evening would be a wonderful plan! Reading aloud to your children is such a bonding thing ... and if your husband wants to be a part of it, then by all means make it happen! He will enjoy it just as much as your son will!

I'm also going to start Preparing soon with my two oldest boys. That's a great idea to do the storytime at night with dad! It will be good quality time with dad and be a nice quiet activity to get them settled for bed.

I could even listen in too, but it's one less thing to do during the day when the baby is running around.
