Where are you finding these? I have searched a few stores and can't find them. Do you order them online?

I had to laugh when I read this. My 16 year old son claims this! He had to go to the store before every college test (dual enrollment). He just bought peppermints at Dollar General. Maybe he only knew half of the story. Is there a special kind?

ETA: I read candles as candies!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if there is a special kind but spidermansmum mentioned it and I have searched and can't find it in any stores locally...so I thought I would post and see if anyone had any ideas of where to get one.

Ok, so what is the story behind this b/c I would be all about it for my 6 year old if they worked! He is sooo antsy and I can hardly get him to focus at all, unless it's on math, which he loves.

Plus, it would be an added bonus since I love peppermint! :)

I am going to chime in here with just a few points. I try to be encouraging usually so this is against my norm so here goes...I have used essential oils therapeutically and have had some training and education so I would suggest their use with caution. Read the internet for warnings and precautions as they are potent and potentially dangerous. I worked with folks with severe seizures and dill is contraindicated. Once one of the folks had a seizure when fish with dill sauce was served. The RN took the info seriously and had dill sauce removed from the menu. Whether the two were related may be coincidental but the RN was not going to have a questionable spice so she had it removed. Peppermint oil is very potent and possibly harmful. The HOD site is for HOD curriculum and I don't think (though I don't know for sure) Carrie wants this to be a topic because that would be for a medical/naturapath discussion.
I too want my children to have every opportunity to shine in their hs and do utilize alternative resources. I would just recommend that the info come from a "reliable" source which would be at a medical/naturopath not to say that anyone's experience isn't "reliable". From my professional experience essential oils were beneficial and the folks had dx with mental illness, developmental disorders, cp, etc responded positively. These folks were sensitive to scents and were used with great caution. Some reactions were not usual reactions due to their disorders, in other words their sensory sensitivities also effected their response to essential oils.
I use peppermint oil for migraines so I know the positive effects of essential oils. I just want to educate folks to use caution before they use something that they have heard is beneficial. Check the pros/cons. The scents can also have a rebound effect where they become harmful in the area they were meant to help. Tammy

Thanks spidermansmum! I had seen that you could use the oils to make candles. I appreciate your help. I am going to try finding one of the scented yankee candles. I wish that I would have pm'd you though b/c somewhere along the way it got confused with something else. I just wanted to know where to purchase a scented peppermint candle. Next time I will pm. ;)
