Hi my name is Depree and I am mother to two young sons, Israel 38 months and Emmanuel almost 2. I recently became a single mom and have always wanted and desired to homeschool my children. I have saught the Lord these last few months, wondering if I could do it. The answer was --"No, Depree you cannot do it alone, but with me all things are possible." Though my family circumstances have changed, my desire to give my children the best education that is offered, I've kept my held high and am still planning on homeschooling.
I just ordered Little Hands to Heaven. I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to be with my children. I've looked at the sample and have done it with my boys and they love it! As the weeks progress what activities are being done? I love how it can be done within an hour (as I work part time outside of the home) Anyway, just thought I'd say hello!! I am eternally blessed!

Depree -
I'm here on the HOD boards researching & praying about using Preparing with my son this fall. But when I saw your post, I just had to chime in!
I have been single parent homeschooling for over 8 years now. When my children were 3 and 5, my husband left us (as in, simply vanished one day). What a shattering heartbreak! But I can honestly say that God has taken care of us. Remember, He is Father to the fatherless! He will not leave you nor forsake you!
I just want to encourage you to follow this desire of your heart to homeschool. It sounds like you are able to get by only working part-time, and that's great. If you keep out of debt and live frugally, you can do this for a long time to come. If you do a Google search for "single parent homeschool" you will find some excellent resources for you including articles, message boards, and so on. Some curriculum providers give a discount to single parents, and Homeschool Legal Defense Association has information on one-time grants for single parents.
When I struggled during the time my husband left, I read a certain Psalm every day - I just lived in it. You might want to start your day with a cup of coffee and Psalm 37! May God richly bless you for your faithfulness!

Depree -
Just wanted to welcome you to the boards! With God all things are possible, and He will enable you to do what is His will. I'm so glad that you are enjoying LHTH, and I hope I keep getting to know you better here at HOD - we love to enlarge our family with faith-filled ladies such as yourself!
Jen -
You've held your head high and walked out of a tough situation with God at your side! May He continue to bless your endeavors to raise children that know Him! Don't be a stranger here - I'd love to be using "Preparing.." along with you next year so we could share our stories together here. God bless!
Love in Christ,
Julie

Thank you everyone for the replies! I really needed to read all of your replies today. It's been a rough day! My little one, almost 2, is sick so , I will be out of work for some time, but everyone is right here, the Lord will provide. I am glad that I have found a place where not only I can find support but also wonderful ideas for teaching children in a Christ-like way! I live in Bremerton WA--and I know that there are a lot of free resources around here. Anyway, thanks again everyone!

Hi Depree!
I am new too and will be using LHTH in the fall! I also operate an in-home day care so I too will know what it is like to work and homeschool. God bless you for taking that leap of faith that I am sure was not easy to do!
Looking forward to getting to know you and your boys!
