Which direction with our highschooler?

Our daugh will be 10 gr next year. We have not used HOD with her. We have been piecemealing her curr up to this point, as she has some comprehension issues . Because we are CM fans, she has always narrated, first orally and then written. She loves history and is begging for some American history. We are currently in the process of working with her math gaps, so have a course to follow. I intend to use Biology 101 for her science, so we are set there. She has never done a reading program such as the DITHOR.. She has used a CM style Lang. arts , which switches daily what the focus will be, one day, poetry, another grammar, another narration, another picture study. So I think her understanding of basic parts of speech has been touched on but it hasn't been consistent.
so my questions are
Where to place her in History guide? keeping in mind she is begging for Am. history...
When you say extensions, what exactly does that mean and include, how do you decide on that?
Should we include DITHOR, and what level?
How about English?
We are using a CM style foreign lang and will continue with that.
any thing else to add.?
Oh yes, one more thing, I would like to say, is where we start, we would like to finish out the remaining 3 years with HOD so must end up witth gov't included at some point, but I think that can wait until 12th gr, and we are not necessarily thinking college, but don't want to cut her options off that she couldn't if she did want to at a later date.
thank you so much for your sharing and help.
Blessings

KK,

Thanks for sharing about your daughter! :D From what you've shared so far, I would lean toward placing your daughter in Revival to Revolution. This would allow you to do Rev2Rev for grade 10, Missison to Modern Marvels for grade 11, and the one-year geography guide for grade 12. :D Our Revival to Revolution guide has the start of a focus on government, so you could add additonal materials to gain .5 of a credit in government. Here is a link to a thread about making Rev2Rev credit worthy for high school. :D Link: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8208&p=59715

Extension books and The American Testimony DVD are scheduled in the Appendix by page numbers/track numbers by day to coordinate with the history study. :D CM-style follow-ups are recommended.

For literature, if daughter has never done a formal literature study, you may wish to use Level 6/7/8 of DITHR with high school level books. Here is a link to a list of possible high school level titles to use with DITHR. :D Link: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7765&p=56997#p56997

As far as grammar goes, if your daughter has never done any diagramming or had a formal focus on grammar, I'd lean toward using Rod and Staff 5 at full-speed as scheduled in Rev2Rev. English 5 is the core year of Rod and Staff. If your daughter has done diagramming extensively, then I'd do English 6 at half-speed as scheduled in Rev2Rev instead. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
