Congrats on getting your BHFHG things - I always think that is such fun to get my guide and books and pour over them! :D I am wondering how old your ds is, and if he has done dictation before? I'd carefully read through the dictation directions in the Appendix and give it a whirl, it's harder than it looks. If you do and ds does well with all of it (including indenting, punctuation, spelling, etc.), then I'd move to the middle, like passage 50, and give that a try. One error, and the passage is repeated the next day. If your ds is older and is passing all of the passages for a few weeks at that point, I'd get the PHFHG manual and do the next level of dictation from there. HTH!
