BHFHG Science book Question

Post by Cindygreen » Wed Feb 08, 2012 3:42 pm

We are new to this board and HOD. We are planning to use 'Bigger' with my youngest who will be in 3rd grade next year. (Wish I could use HOD with my 14 y/o for high school next year.) :D

I was wondering if someone could tell me how often the science books are used during the year. I can borrow all but one of these from my library, but if we will be using each one often it might be better if I purchase them. If, on the other hand, each one is used only for a couple weeks at a time; I could use the ones from the library. Thanks.

We're just finishing Bigger...
Each science book is used one at a time.
One Small Square: Seashore Units 1 - 5 day 2
Science in Colonial America Units 5 day 3 - 9
John Audobon: Young Naturalist Units 10 - 14
One Small Square: Woods Units 15 - 18
A Pioneer Sampler Units 19 - 31 day 2
Thomas Edison: Young Inventor Units 31 day 3 - 34

I'm not sure how long your library would let you have a book checked out. Each science book takes about 4 units/20 school days to complete, with the exception of "A Pioneer Sampler", which is quite a bit longer.

Hope this helps
