I've heard someone mention a prior post where Carrie had discussed why she preferred "The world God Made" and "God's Wonderful Works" over "Our Fathers World". Anyone remember where that thread was?

 I'm the one who mentioned the post, but I have no idea either which post it was!! I don't believe she gave specific reasons....maybe the pictures? Maybe Carrie will chime in again since this has come up at least twice here lately.

I'm thinking all 3 are fine books...I used Our Father's World and have been pleased with the info....it just probably came down to choosing which two would work best with the programs.

LeeAnn,

You're not imagining things, and Melanie has a wonderful memory! Here's the thread:

I'll also elaborate a little bit on why I prefer "The World God Made" a bit over "My Father's World". Overall, the topics match what you are teaching in science better, so the connection is better. Also, the last chunk of "My Father's World" has some twaddle-type pages without much solid content on them.

The reason we listed "My Father's World" is for those who felt they needed a Grade 1 text to prove to their school district that they are doing "Grade 1". It's not that the text isn't good, it certainly is appropriate for grade 1, beautiful, and very God-honoring, but there is not much difference overall in the level of rigor between "The World God Made" and "My Father's World". :D

We actually have used both at our house.

Blessigns,
Carrie

In this case, it will save me money! :D
I already own the first grade book and appreciate the corresponding pages in the back that will keep me sane AND save us a little bit of money!
