Question: RtR Unit 14 Science experiment help!

Okay, I will admit that I am clueless when it comes to most science except biology. 
We did the experiment in Unit 14 of RtR and I/we are thoroughly confused. We put the plastic ziploc bag inside the jar, secured it and then pulled it out. We repeated this procedure with a small hole in the bag. Neither one of us can figure out which time was more difficult to pull the bag out and why. Can anyone help us? Thanks!
