LHTH ?s

Hello, I am new to HOD and very excited about everything. My plan is to purchase LHTH for my 4 year old daughter. I also do an in home day care and I have a 3.5 year old and a 4.5 year old here during the day. I plan on doing LHTH with all three. Is LHTH easy to use with multiple kids with only one curriculum book or do I need one for each child?
Also, I plan on supplementing a little bit more for my daughter. She is 4 but is very nearly at a K level. So I plan on doing Handwriting without Tears and a phonics program for her. I do not plan on doing the extras with the other 2 children. So how long does LHTH take to do on any given day? My idea is to do LHTH in the morning and the supplementing during the afternoon naps. Does that sound feasible?
Thanks for any responses. I am quite excited to begin and love HOD (at least what I have seen so far)!!!
God bless,
Jessi

Jessi,
Welcome, nice to have you here!
I think your plan sounds great. LHTH is quite interactive so, doing it as a group should provide some fun, interactive learning time for the kiddos.
I think your plan to do the supplemental material later in the day sounds good as well.
LHTH, without any extras would probably take about 30 min. (give or take) to accomplish. I am thinking with 3 little ones it may take a bit longer just because you are having 3 instead of 1 to keep on track!
Sometimes we go as long as an hour or more if we want to spend additional time with the dramatic play or an art activity etc. So, I guess the time spent doing LHTH depends how you tailor it.
You would need to make copies of the appropriate pages in the guide for the written activities to provide for all 3 of the kiddos. Since I am just doing it with my daughter we write directly in the book and don't even photocopy. If I were doing it with more than one child, I would photocopy the necessary pages ahead of time as opposed to buying extra guides.
If you have more questions ask away!

I agree with what Candice has said. You would just need to make 3 copies of each page for each unit. I did all the copies at once for the year for my ds 4 and it was only about $8.00, so it is relatively inexpensive. It takes us about 30 minutes to do each day's work...and my son LOVES it! He enjoys the fingerplays, adores the Bible stories, and remembers the letter sounds and names. It would probably take 45 minutes to an hour with 3, if you do it just like the book says, due to potty needs, clean-up for 3, etc.

. If you plan to add other books or projects to your day, you will need to allow for that. I plan to, eventually, use LHTH with my own in-home daycare (future dream) and I can't wait. I think it is an excellent program for the 2-5 year old child. Have fun, and God Bless!

Jessi,
I just wanted to welcome you! We're glad you're here!
We pray that you'll enjoy LHTH as much as we have! My boys have wonderful memories of their time with me. I am looking forward to using it with my 4th son in a year.
Blessings,

Hi Jessi!
I just wanted to welcome you, too. I think that you and your daughter will love doing LHTH...and it's a great idea to include your day care kids. My dd and I have started LHTH this year and will continue in the fall. We love it! She would love having "friends" join her...and it will make dramatizing the Bible stories so much fun. It takes us 20-30 minutes to do. You'll have to share your stories as you go...

I'll gladly share all we are learning. I have a "newsletter" going home to both families about what we are going to do in the fall. I am getting so giddy.

And thank you all for the kind welcome!!!!
