Hi there Ladies!

I am curious at how easy it would be in use another bible in LHTH. I know in the curric. it suggests that a bible of our choice may be used but I am wondering how easy it will be to use it. Does anybody have any experience with this?

I already had A Child's First Bible (which is one of the recommended, has fewer words and is good for short attention-span littles) and The Beginner's Bible, which is not one of the recommended titles, and we were able to follow along with the curriculum just fine. I used both. :D

Haha! Those are the exact two bibles we have. I thought maybe A Child's First bible will be ok for my 2 year old it might be a little to young for my soon to be 4 year old. But, if I can use The Beginner's Bible then I should be set! Thank you!

I just wanted to let you know "The Beginner's Bible" is used for reading instruction within the "Emerging Reader's Set" in Beyond Little Hearts, or Bigger Hearts..., depending on when dc have completed phonics and are at the emerging reader's level of reading. :D The first 9 weeks of the Emerging Reader's Set's plans have dc reading either "The Early Reader's Bible" OR "The Beginner's Bible". "The Beginner's Bible" is a higher reading level than "The Early Reader's Bible", and it has comprehension questions written according to Bloom's Taxonomy within the HOD plans to be used with it. The questions helped our dc begin to develop oral narration skills, as well as build stronger reading comprehension skills. While you could use "The Early Reader's Bible", it is easier, and should your child be needing the higher reading level choice of "The Beginner's Bible", it would be beneficial to be able to use it and to have it be 'fresh' for your child. :D If you are wanting a more difficult Bible for your LHTH user, "The New Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes" would fit this need well. We used it with all 3 of our dc, and it was a favorite. :D

In Christ,
Julie

When we first began using Heart of Dakota I was just going to wing it with the Bibles. My daughter, Who was inLHFHG Was having a little bit of a rough start, So I decided to go ahead and get her the Bible that they recommended... The companion to The Bible to pictures For Little eyes. I also got the Bible for my son who was in LHTH... They *LOVED* Their new Bibles!! They both really treasured them so much. God 's Word became so special to them . To me it was worth it to see that ownership built w in them. I highly recommend the bibles suggested!

This is great information! Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention! I have already purchased the IG for LHTH so I will have to wait to get the bible closer to when we are going to start. Thanks again!

What a great idea! I like the idea of giving them new bibles, like a gift. Thank you!

I used the other children's Bibles I had and read out of the "real" Bible when my children's Bible didn't have the story we were reading that day. I am getting ready to go through LHTH with my youngest.... okay we are months away from even thinking about starting but I got a little excited and went ahead and ordered the Bible that is recommended with LHTH for 2-3 year olds. I am amazed, I love the selection. I love that it is longer and includes more stories, even some of the "bad" stories. Contrasted with the other children's Bibles I have which are shorter and I love the illustrations. I am always so pleased with the selections that are recommended with each guide... I should probably just go ahead and buy every single one!

Don't I sound like a good salesperson there?

Melissa, I can relate to you. :)

We were also going to wing it, Mercy, and were SO glad to use the Bibles recommended for each set! The kids LOVE The Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes for LHTH, and 101 Favorite Bible Stories for LHFHG. It's exciting to have both the ER Bible and The Beginner's Bible, which will be used in Beyond. They've all been great, and appropriate for our kids' skill level! I sound like a salesperson too! ;)
