I'm going in Tuesday afternoon for a brain MRI to check for signs of MS (Multiple Sclerosis). My doctor knows I have Graves Disease and with meds, my thyroid levels are decreasing to more normal values. I still do not feel better and have so many autoimmune symptoms. His opinion is that I have one of 3 things....1.) Lupus ... 2.) MS ... 3.) Both Lupus and MS ...in addition to GD. And I'm being treated for fibromyalgia. My heart has calmed and we plan to start weaning me from some of the heart meds, specifically one that is quite toxic. I have just started my 6th medication (6 meds daily..I take meds 2-3 times each every day). We have not started treating anything beyond my heart, thyroid, and started an anti-depressant which is used for the nerve, muscle, and joint pains in fibromyalgia. I'm not patient so say a prayer I don't go crazy waiting to hear results please. LOL

We are moving next month...happy day! God answered prayers about my husband being wrongfully terminated as well. Today, we got a call that the hospital realized they made a mistake, he won't be losing his license, and they asked him to come back to his ICU position!!! Just yesterday we thought he was going to have to travel several hours away and stay 4 days a week for a temp job and was going to loose his license in our state. (temp job in another state because we live right on the border of OK and AR) God has been so good ...and today is his birthday and our anniversary. So a great gift!

Glad to hear about your dh's job. That is a blessing.

Sorry about your illness. After hearing about all your physical problems, I feel I need to share this. I know it is more prevalent in some states, and ours (PA) is one of them. But, were you ever tested for Lyme disease? My aunt was treated for MS for 20 years, until finally a doctor diagnosed her with Lyme. She is practically in a wheelchair now. Our new pastor's wife has Lyme and has been very ill with it, because she was treated for other things for years before a doctor diagnosed her with it. It has affected many of her organs. Lyme symptoms mimic symptoms found in MS and other diseases, so it is often overlooked and treated as something else. If you haven't been tested for it, I would encourage you to have it done before they treat for something else. Some doctors do not test for it, so you may need to look for one who does. HTH Will pray about your results.

The topic of lyme has come up to me daily for a few days in a row now indirectly...I'm going to ask my doc about it. Thanks for mentioning it as it pertains to ME... wouldn't that be something? We live where ticks are rampant. Ugh. Would be fantastic to be treated for the right thing! ;)

Happy Birthday to your husband and a happy anniversary to you both. God is amazing, great news about your DH's job.

Praying that they find everything out about your health and can treat you accordingly.

Tamara,

I don't post much but did read your post and wanted to let you know that I will be praying for you. I too have faced health issues in the past and I know how hard it can be to keep it all together and perform all your "mommy" tasks each day. One book that really encouraged me was a book by Terri Maxwell, " Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit." She has great wisdom and loads of encouraging scriptures in there. Some days it seemed like she was my best friend and knew exactly what I was going through. Anyways, I will be praying.

Blessings,

Emily

I'm so thankful for all of you! Just love the HOD boards :)

I had my MRI yesterday to check for MS lesions. DH and I looked at the cd of images they gave me and our untrained eyes see no obvious lesions but do see a couple small spots that may or may not be of concern. I should have official results within 24-48hrs...that's this afternoon or tomorrow.

MRI of brain came back normal. It doesn't rule out MS completely, but it does get me one step farther from that as a diagnosis! We will be looking more closely into Lupus related nervous system conditions and possibly more testing for MS later. Both are hard to diagnosis since there is no one particular test to do so and there is so much overlap between the two.

I haven't posted in a long while here, but reading your post I feel it VERY necessary to suggest something about your various autoimmune health conditions. Has your MD mentioned anything about Celiac or Gluten Intolerance? Every single issue and symptom you have is directly related to Celiac/Gluten Intolerance and/or gut dysbiosis. I HIGHLY suggest you just do a quick internet search for the relationship, and also look at a site called gapsdiet.com. I have 3 years of homeschooling our last child, and when I am done I am going to school to become a health coach/holistic healthcare practitioner, mainly because these conditions are exploding in our country and I want to help people overcome so many health conditions my own family is finally healing using the GAPS diet protocol. And I will most definitely say a prayer for you and your health challenges because we are FINALLY healing from our own challenges. In fact, our daughter graduated in September from our homeschool, and I was SO sick with my own autoimmune conditions that she never got a party or anything  We still feel horrible, but my husband and I were so sick. We found GAPS through a wonderful homeschool mom and the healing is nothing short of a miracle.

We've actually gone GF at one point and had a child tested and it came back negative (yes, tested while still eating gluten!). His was a HUGE battery of tests. I had a celiac panel done a couple weeks ago...all came back negative as well. I wish it were that! We have researched this extensively and I have a very close friend who has celiac, and her brother in law is the doctor that tested my son and he and his entire family have CD or GS...and they have 4 or 5 kids! So, he knows it well :) I appreciate your message!

Hi all :D I'm just reviving an older post, asking for prayer for myself and all our HOD families struggling with health issues. As I read through these, I see so many possible areas for investigation, and have seen doctors for years trying to explore my options. I finally found a great doctor who does not contract with insurance and has been able to diagnose and treat the chronic pneumonia bacteria and Lyme disease. I am getting better, but still have a ways to go. I want to encourage anyone who also struggles with unexplained symptoms to seek out a Lyme literate doctor or functional medicine specialist...they can do the proper tests that your general practitioners cannot. As well, the area of genetic medicine is advancing rapidly, and through testing, I have learned that my body cannot tolerate sulphur (found in bone broth, onions and garlic, cruciferous vegetables, fermented foods...basically all the things we are told to to eat for health :| ), and that has made a huge difference for me. So, don't give up....God bless and guide you all this year.

I haven't logged on is so very long, and then this was on the first page of the main board!

Since this time, I have finally been diagnosed with some rare, life long diseases. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome type 3, Dysautonomia, and I had brain surgery in Aug 2014 to remove a pineal cystic tumor which was totally benign but had invade the brain stem and surrounding vessels, as well as the pineal gland, which had to also be removed. Since surgery 17months ago, I've also had another baby! A little girl named who is one month old now! She was born Dec 23 at 37wks and has microcephaly and had severe IUGR prenatally. We are awaiting genetic results on her but she seems to be doing quite well. Didn't even need the NICU :) My kids are being diagnosed with EDS as well...some or all. Not sure yet. And the littlest boy is thought to have dysautonomia with syncope spells that have caused a major head injury! It's been super wild around here!

Goodness! That's a lot to pray for! I'll be praying for peace of spirit and mind and much wisdom as you seek to meet your needs and the needs of your kids. I'm humbled by your post as it has put my complaining spirit in its place!
