having the box in Unit 18 History telling kiddos to go back to the timeline they created in their Student Notebooking pages, and look to see what else happened in that same time frame!

Sounds logical, right? Way, way, way,....way.... long time ago, when I was taught  , I thought they were all separate time periods. Everything! I asked my dh too, he said, "yes". PS failed to make connections. Everything was taught in rote chunks, nothing to be connected.

We had a great discussion about this yesterday and I was able to drag out my Big Book of Timelines to show other events that happened.

Thanks for "telling us" to do this!

Yay!

Annaz,

I'm so glad that you enjoyed that! :D We found it to be hugely helpful too.

Blessings,
Carrie

I'm loving the Timeline in general. I love the organization of it on the notebooking pages and the creative aspect of drawing pictures and labeling them. I cannot imaging homeschooling at this age level without HOD. It makes me excited about the coming years of HSing rather than fear or anxiety. Thank you so much!

I agree!! I wish WE had been taught this way!! Our dd knows more about the flow of history than I did until I was an adult (and started homeschooling, tee, hee!) ;)

I learned "compartmentalized" history in ps as well. I too love the connections HOD has us making, and I prefer this way of learning so much. Without HOD reminding me to take note of all of these connections, I fear I'd probably be a creature of habit and end up compartmentalizing my dc's education too. :D Good thoughts here, annaz!

In Christ,
