Anyone do this??

I have my daughter, Shana, in LHFHG. She is on the line between that and Beyond, and after a week of fighting with her to do spelling, I think I agree that we'll do LHFHG for everything, and ER's instead of phonics.

Here's the real issue for me right now. We have a very erratic schedule with DH's military job and that includes upcoming trainings and deployments, though I can't say when. As a military member, you always have to be ready for that. We really like to take off, too, when he's home.

She's technically in K, and I'd like for her to be in Preparing in 4 years. Tell me it's OK to start Preparing when she's 10? That'd give me 4-1/2years to do 3 guides...

Thoughts? Right now, we average half-speed due to lots of meetings.

My dd now 12 did Preparing at age 10-if necessary at the time you can add extensions. Progress is progress :)

My ds completed Preparing when he was 10. I agree with pp, progress is progress.

As far as the erratic schedule, God is in control of all those details. I think it is GREAT that you are able to be flexible and spend time enjoying dh. What an incredible blessing!!

Thanks. I know there are lots of different careers in which the working spouse, often the DH, travels, but in ours, they often happen spur of the moment and for lengthy periods. So you have to catch as catch can.

I just developed a checkoff sheet for myself. I'm going to be able to count boxes, and as we complete work, we'll put dates on it. That way, I can see how we're doing and make sure we're somewhat consistent. That's a lot of why we school year-round, is because we have TONS of breaks that come up spontaneously!

I couldn't attach it, but it tracks both LH and RH sides for each of the guides. I have LHFHG and Beyond printed off, because I expect to get to Beyond before the end of the calendar year. :)
