LHTH for Children's Church?

We worship at a SMALL air force chapel on the base where we live, and have anywhere from 6-8 kids on a Sunday. Our service includes just worship time, no Sunday school. We do have the kids exit during the service, and have about 45 minutes with them. The average age is 3, with 2 kids being 2.5, a 2 year old, a 4 year old, and Shana, who's 5.5.
We're looking for a curriculum to use with our children, and I of course thought of LHTH, but I'd have to know how to structure it. I was thinking we could do one unit in a month. How would that work, with licensing, copyright, etc? The curriculum purchased would be the property of the chapel.
I'm just wondering out loud if it would work or not, and how we could structure the lessons. The months where we have 5 Sundays it'd work well, but the others would be more difficult.
Thoughts? Should I go another direction?

Heidi,
I just pm'd you. I have some older Sunday School curriculum that I would be willing to donate to you for younger kids. I have been looking for someone to send it too. Its from my church where I am a Children's Pastor.
Blessings, Mandy

Awesome, I just replied to you. We can talk offline. If anyone has any comments about how LHTH can work with a children's program, that'd be very welcome!

Hi Heidi! I used LHTH to teach 2-4 yo during a women's Bible study, and we really enjoyed it. I tried to describe it in this thread, and other ladies had good ideas they shared as well...

Thanks, Julie! That is so helpful! Did you have any trouble with kids sitting/paying attention for that long?

I think it may have been difficult if it had been much more than an hour, but alternating the get up and move things with the more sedentary things, and adding a snack and drink time in the middle worked well. We did the Fingerplay multiple times, and we marched around to the Corresponding Music as well. It was fun!
We also had carpet samples for the dc to sit on while I read. We put these on the floor spaced out a bit, so each child had his own space, and each child stayed in his "spot" for the readings.
As dc arrived at all different times, I had toys set out in different areas of the room, so those that arrived early had something to do. When it was time to "officially" begin, we all quickly picked up the toys and put them in a large tote. This worked well. It also worked well at the end to pull out the toys if needed, in case some mothers came a bit late to pick up their sweeties. HTH!
In Christ,
Julie

Yes, it does! I'll be talking to my children's church leader, who was more than happy that I had a suggestion.
I need to PM you offline about licensing issues, or should I just email Mike? You can PM me if you wish!

I wish I could help you out here, but I don't know the particulars of their current licensing agreement. You can just email them or give them a call though, and I know they'll be sure to answer your questions. I think that you have a fun idea here to do LHTH, and I hope it works out well!
