Preparing project - Denarius - NOT working

Help ... my girls were trying to make the denarius this morning ... did NOT work. What am I doing wrong? I used 2 slices white loaf bread, removed the crust, broke it into pieces, added the white elmer's glue, 1/2 tablespoon of coffee (dry instant coffee??), and got a pile of goo that wouldn't roll into a ball. Nastiest stuff we have EVER dealt with. The girls had all kinds of names for it, but denarius was not one of them. LOL. Was I supposed to use liquid coffee? I'm not sure that would have made any difference, but I really want to make this work. Any suggestions?

I have not done this one yet, but just by reading what you posted my guess would be the instant coffee is your problem? Do the directions call for instant? If not then I would try it again with regular coffee... as instant would just dissolve (I think)?

Okay, I just went and read it. I think you are suppose to use liquid coffee just for coloring? I bet someone else will come along and help out beter
I am interested in what you find out, we will be doing this soon!

Welcome to the HOD Board. I used liquid coffee. You can add more bread if it's too sticky. HTH!
