Sample written narrations/postcards/writing lessons for RTR?

Good evening, Ladies!

Last week I had a friend asking me about our curriculum and as I talked to her about all the things ds (RTR) does on a weekly basis I was very impressed! :D
So first off, I just wanted to say THANK YOU to Carrie again for a program that is so all encompassing that I know that I don't have to add anything!

My friend was also asking me if we send work off to be graded and I told her no, but that we have checklists and if we need any input/help, we have a wonderful forum full of ladies who are working right along side of us!

So that brings me to my question. As I was pondering the conversation and the ease with which my replies fell off my lips, I began to wonder if I was viewing my ds's work with eyes that were wide open. :? I was looking over wikipedia tonight so that I have an idea what DS researched for his postcard and there is so much information on Pavia (Unit 7~RTR) and I wondered just what I would choose to pick out of it to fit in the small postcard student page. I admit that most stuff sounds great to me and while I think ds needs a bit more work going into detail on the written narrations, I don't have a lot of idea about what is actually "good". Does that make sense? :?

So I was wondering if some brave souls would be willing to post written narrations, postcard research, and papers from Medieval Based History Writing Lessons so that I can see if we are on the right track. I realize that my ds has not been doing HOD as long as some and that other than CTC, we have had no formal writing so I am not looking to compare in a bad way, but in a way that advances the skills he is learning. Since we are only on unit 7 samples from previous lessons and this week would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help! :)

Thanks a lot, Julie. I was lurking around over on the Week in Reviews forum to see if I could read things, but it was harder and some I couldn't read. I will try the ones you linked.

How much do you help Wyatt to revise his narrations? Sometimes I feel like ds is putting too many filler words in or repeating things. They are coming along nicely (yesterday's post card was awesome!), but I don't know how much input to give sometimes. I found it a bit better to ask him questions for clarity and then help him realize that it was not clear.

Thanks again and I will check out the narrations!

Blessings,
Sherry
